How do I see propaganda today in media? Hmm what lens am I looking through, the owner of publication or the consumer.
As an owner who is looking for clicks, view, streams, etc… we see can understand the point, whatever it takes to sell. But as a consumer I can see the big problem.
For example we can look at youtube’s most popular stars Pewdiepie, James Charles, Shane Dawson, or any white person who reeks of mediocrity but seems to have an opinion validated by millions for some reason I could never understand. These youtubers are are racist and push their ideologies through their humor and when their joke goes too far they seem to just open the notes application on their phone and type a page begging for forgiveness.
These ugly hateful hot garbage these act spews is very often pushed by racist rhetoric they decline exist but filming yourself in Blackface as a joke is racist and saying you were a child is not excuse, for example Shane Dawson, Emma Chamberlain.
Actually I just checked my phone and Shane Dawson just admitted to laying his cat down to perform a sexual act to his cat, let’s see if a man who just talked about abusing an animal will face any repercussion or will he say it was a joke to be forgiving.
But countless subscribes still follower and defend their honor but why should the voice of minorities, people of color matter when the revenue for obtaining a problematic act can be beneficial financially. We can look to Pewdiepie a grand slamming ideal of white supremacy a man who is a applauded for his skills as a gamer and “comedy”, with highly Islamophobic takes but somehow was still apart of commercial during the Superbowl. The man was directly mentioned where a soon to be mass murdered asked to subscribe to his channel before he took the lives of 50 muslims minding their own business, but yet again another white man comes to ruin that but they’re the true victims.
We can blame propaganda but its just white supremacy but the cog in the machine will for hundred percent go into highlighting that the shooter is white and before they killed people they were nice once.
A famous Twitter personality Zack fox has a thread showing casing the images of white men who seem happy with their family or wife in a photo but the caption would read “Father Kills Family”.
Propaganda is curse we live with for profit to multi-million corporations who will sell anything for a money. Hell the invent of it Edward Bernays had to deal with the consequences from promoting cigarettes and hating that his wife smoked. The world is cursed and the ease of prompting things that should not see the light of day is just an example of this awful world.
