Twitter and Objectivity

The author of this tweet is sharing his frustration about how some news sources are covering Mark Zuckerberg regarding the Facebook scandal. I totally agree with what this post reads, Zuckerberg’s actions affected people around the world and by giving him a platform to speak about the situation from his point of view with biases of his own. Matt Cooper (the author of this post) also suggests that instead of giving Zuckerberg a self-serving platform news sources should’ve interviewed him instead. The word “unchallenged” in this post speaks out a lot because journalism should be challenging, instead of giving the readers one side to look at and consume there should be multiple ways to view this story.
Tabloid journalism is often looked down upon by many and usually not taken serious by reporters that cover other serious topics. Celebrity news and gossip are usually the center of these stories, and it is often easy for publishers to manipulate what readers are seeing. There’s a common thread with tabloid pieces that cover something scandalous that a celebrity did which leads to the celebrity and their team trying to cover it up, this then leads to the public moving on from the story. No one has been affected and the story blows over, so i can see why tabloid journalism isn’t taken so serious.
