My brothers had already started playing Genshin Impact (release date: Sept. 28, 2020) before me, so I had some handy tips and tricks to use when playing. I also really like that it is an open world game so I can do whatever I want creatively. I have also spent many hours playing it and leveling up my characters. There is also a feature called wishing where you can spend your primogems to try and get new five star characters which are really powerful.

In Genshin Impact, you start out as a traveler who traveled worlds with your sister or brother, depending on your traveler’s gender. One day, an unknown god stripped you of your power and sent you to a world, Tevat. You meet a guide called Paimon, who tells you all about Tevat and how you spent the last five years asleep. She teaches you how to defend yourself against enemies. Then you go to a statue of seven, touch it, and develop a special power of wind. She then leads you to a Monstadt and from there it is a RPG, open world game. You can do the main quests.

The full game is not out. Making the game especially interesting, character banners pop up for short period of time when you can obtain a specific five star character, but once that banner leaves you can’t get that character again. To wish for characters you need primogems, which can be used to buy aquanite wishes and intertwined wishes. These two can be used for different banners to wish for different things, such as specific characters or weapons.

I really enjoy the game. I love the grind — when you get that ability to defeat enemies with one shot. Or, maybe getting that five star character, making your team overpowered. I feel really excited to go into the world of Genshin Impact because it is relaxing. Also, I love the happiness of finally winning that character or finishing that boss fight. It feels so worth it when you finally finish a quest that was taking you so long to complete.

For example, when I battled the wolf without help: as I start the battle, my heart is pounding, because the wolf is one of the hardest bosses in the game and only resets once every week. Walking into the arena, I realize the wolf was immune to the element that was the strongest character on my team. There is no time to change the team; I have to continue without my advantage.

I start the battle. The beginning is easy, as usual — just hit the boss and dodge the attacks. Then, the second stage starts. Almost every attack will one shot my characters and there is a three minute interval between reviving characters. I work hard to whittle down the HP and two of my characters fall twice during the hour-long battle. I had not realized how under-leveled my characters were — the boss was level 30 and my characters were level 10. I hit the finishing blow and cheer.

I finally beat it — the hardest boss in Genshin Impact — at that moment, and the rewards were worth it. I got the part I needed to make a better claymore for one of my characters, and got some overpowered artifacts for my characters.

It was awesome.

Though I was the underdog, I learned working hard to overcome difficult obstacles can pay off. I would really recommend this game to whoever loves to work hard and see how their party grows stronger and ultimately defeats challenges.
