Meet Hersh Patel, a technology entrepreneur aiming to equip middle market publications with data-science tools through his entrepreneurial venture Hindsight Technology Solutions.

With Hindsight, Hersh hopes to bridge the technology gap between mid-market and big-market publications. He sees a clear gap between top news publications and mid-market publications, with the former having the resources to implement new technologies, and the latter continuing to fall behind the technology curve. Hersh has started Hindsight Technology Solutions to empower digital publications to use data science tools to improve audience engagement, the monetization of content, and newsroom processes.

In his current role, Hersh leverages his background in finance — where he worked most recently as an Investment Officer at Goldman Sachs — to understand the inner workings of building a successful business. Building on this business acumen by participating in the Tow-Knight Fellowship at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, Hersh hopes to immerse himself in the media industry, better understand the customers Hindsight is serving, and improve the impact of his data tool solution for future clients.

An Edison, New Jersey native and New York University graduate, Hersh finds inspiration in the entrepreneurial journey of his father, who worked his way up from humble beginnings to found an engineering firm. That firm, CRC Associates, now works with clients that include the World Trade Center and the Holland Tunnel, among others.

When he’s not working on his venture, he’s training for or enjoying sports, most notably football (go Eagles!) and soccer, which he played throughout high school. In 2014 he swam across the Potomac River in Washington, DC to complete the Nation’s Triathlon, one of the highlights of his athletic activities.
