StreetMusicMap Radio around the world: interview with Katie Ferrara, street musician from Los Angeles, California.

Plan ahead: that's my biggest lesson from the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism Program. My next step is to produce 24 episodes for StreetMusicMap Radio in one year, giving a global approach to the podcast launched in NYC during my experience at the CUNY. The 3rd episode presents the singer/composer Katie Ferrara, from Los Angeles, California:

During the first podcast season, StreetMusicMap Radio is planning to show artists from New York, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Paris, Madrid, Melbourne, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Buenos Aires and Santiago de Chile. Brilliant musicians curated by StreetMusicMap on Instagram and featured on StreetMusicMap's Spotify playlists as well:

If NYC is an urban jukebox, our planet is a global mixtape. I invite you to travel with me in the company of some of the best musicians performing nowadays on streets around the world.

First stop: London, England, with Charlotte Campbell.

"After writing music for 10 years, Charlotte Campbell’s career really began when she found herself on London’s Southbank, guitar in hand and a case full of change. Charlotte’s growing fan base have helped her fund her first and second albums through crowdfunding campaigns".

'Streets of London', by Charlotte Campbell.

Berlin, Germany: The Trouble Notes.

"The Trouble Notes first moved to Berlin in 2013, having formed between New York City and London. The cultural freedom and economic circumstance of the city were the initial attractions to the members of the band. Having spent the better part of 2013 busking around the streets of Europe, the trio found an instant connection with the open-mindedness of Berlin. The city began to rally around them, and in 2015 they performed in front of a sold out audience at one of the city’s most revered venues — Lido — and were invited as guest performers at the European Film Awards Ceremony. Indie Berlin nominated them for 'Indie Artist of the Year'."

'Catalonia Calling', by The Trouble Notes.

Paris, France: Les Aristo'.

French duo formed by Claire-Marie Bronx (violin) and Jérémy Plank (guitar).

'J'suis snob', by Les Aristo'.

Melbourne, Australia: Woodlock.

Folk-pop trio based in Melbourne.

'Last Train to Clarksville', by Woodlock.

São Paulo, Brazil: O Grande Grupo Viajante.

Big Band influenced by brazilian & afro-caribbean rhythms based in São Paulo.

Buenos Aires, Argentina: Orquesta Típica El Afronte.

Independent tango orchestra from Buenos Aires, famous for playing in the streets of San Telmo Market (Feria de San Telm0) on the weekends, besides venues performances.

Moscow, Russia: Radio Kamerger.

"Radio Kamerger was founded in 2006 by three strings players — Yakov Chetverukhin, Artem Rudenko & Semyon Lashkin during their studies at Moscow P.I.Tchaikovsky Music College, and invited Vaclav Brazhichek (trumpet) and Alexander Leer (drums, percussion) to be part of it. Nowadays, Radio Kamerger plays in clubs in Moscow and St.Petersburg."
