Here’s a quick intro to University of Oregon senior Lindsey Frayn

As an aspiring crisis communications manager, one might imagine that Lindsey Frayn would be one of those people who are on always their phones 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

But this Beaverton, Oregon native says — arguably contrary to many of what those in her generation would — that she doesn’t like to be attached to her phone. She especially doesn’t like to be distracted by it during classes.

Sure, she pulls the typical millennial routine — checking Facebook first thing in the morning, flipping through Instagram on her phone before she tucks in for the night… but Lindsey breaks the typical millennial generational mold with some of her habits.

“I only post to Instagram once every other week,” she says. “Unless it’s like a special occasion or something.”

Lindsey says she tries to post on Twitter a minimum of two or three times per day, but she just doesn’t enjoy the medium as a whole. On Twitter, she follows a lot of public relations firms to watch how they handle their crisis communications, as well as watch for jobs and internships. But, again, she admits to not being as active on Twitter as she could be.

“I just don’t really like Twitter,” Lindsey says, laughing. “But I am having to get into it for PR.”

She might not like Twitter, but Lindsey is an avid lover and user of LinkedIn. Lindsey says she is constantly adding connections and getting endorsements from people she is making connections with, but she doesn’t utilize LinkedIn’s publishing platform at all.

“I’m just adding connections really to make job connections,” she says. “But it’s kind of weird that our parent’s are so active on it.”

Additionally, Lindsey says she likes checking Facebook to keep in touch with friends and family, and stay up-to-date on BuzzFeed content and Tasty videos.

There aren’t a lot of specific websites Lindsey actively seeks out for any news consumption — she’d rather just stick to Facebook for getting her news, as news on Facebook is easily shared between friends and family. And a lot of those interactions happen when she’s at home.

“It’s all about convenience,” she says about her news consumption. “And I’m all about convenience.”

Right now, Lindsey’s media consumption on devices like her laptop are filled with the typical job searches that come along with being a soon-to-been graduate from the University of Oregon. Though she has an internship with Intel for the summer, what Lindsey is most interested in is applying for jobs that allow her to learn more about crisis communication, but specifically she’s applying for social media coordinator roles.

Other than her personal social media use, Lindsey says she gets a lot of media exposure in her film industry class and her public relations campaigns course, but doesn’t see them changing her habits much over the course of the next few months.
