WorkWhat I am Grateful For — 003
I’m grateful that I’m alive. There’s so much to hope for and wake up to when there is life. Being on the move daily and trying to earn a living and make something beautiful out of life easily makes us forget the essence of living and being. It gets so terrible to the point that we take the life itself for granted. In our pursuit for the ideal life, we push the life itself to the side.
Being present, living daily and simply existing is very much underrated. Every once in a while, I find things that bring back to my realisation the importance of gratitude.
I’m grateful that I’m alive. Many others wish to be able to see this day but are unable to. It’s not that I’m in any way better, smarter, healthier, than they are but through the huddles of life, God preserved my life.
It is human nature to be selfish. More interestingly, selfish in our thoughts. Statistics makes us understand that millions of people die daily, it is certain that in the next 24 hours, millions of people will die. That means millions of others grieve for the loss of a loved one every 24 hours. Yet somehow in our thoughts, we safely believe it would not be us or our loved ones next. How selfish? And even when we wake to find that ourselves and loved ones are alive, we don’t take a moment to be grateful. How pathetic?
I’ve begun to learn lately how much good gratitude can do for the soul and mind. In the place of murmurs, complaints, regrets, hustle and bustles, grind, work, let’s all take a moment each day to be grateful and truly be.
There’s a whole lot of others that wish to hustle, grind, and work just as we do but their body wouldn’t let them. Ours isn’t the case and we shouldn’t underrate such a privilege.
