I have recently started my UX Design course and as an assignment doing an app review for the app Speechling from UX perspective. I am aiming to keep my reviews not verbose and straight mentioning the pros and cons I observed while playing with the app.
Landing Page
Pros:
Nothing much I liked about this one.
Cons:
- Very crowded
- Too much information for first page
- Additional “toolbox” image is confusing whether it is link or what’s the purpose of it.
- Inconsistent layout with different card sizes.
- Vocabulary flashcard is a teaching opportunity so should be arrange up, in hierarchy
- No user onboarding
Signup Page
Pros
- Given option to log in with various options like FB, Google, and email
Cons
- Inconsistent layout with different size UI elements
Navigation/Intro Page
Pros
- Content is arranged well with clear action items
Cons
- Meet you coach is in French with no English translation as for the new learner it would be hard for someone to know what it meant!
App Interaction
Pros
- None
Cons
- The symbol of tortoise took sometimes to figure out that is was related to slow saying and play sign was saying in normal length.
- Inconsistent interaction, Setting/logout page is placed after few pages which makes it hard to logout from the app.
Other Observations
- Splash screen is nice and clear with app loading very fast.
- Setting page is not well defined and very little customizable features.
- No Word bank or Offline lessons.
