Chinese drama 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌠 3.5/5

This is a light-hearted drama about first love.

Yan Ke (Riley Wang) is a shy and reserved high school student who is regularly protected by an ever-helpful boyish-looking tomboy Xiong Yi Fan (Wan Peng). Yan Ke mistakes Xiong Yi Fan to be a boy, but is unconsciously attracted to her nevertheless. She too likes him, but doesn’t get the right opportunity to express herself. They lose touch with each other after highschool and go their separate ways. Years later, they both enroll into the same university, and meet by accident. The now-pretty Xiong Yi Fan sparks Yan Ke’s memory of his first crush and this time around, he is more proactive, and is able to rekindle their interest in each other. Another student, Bai Yu Ze (Wu Han Kun), who is a professional photographer, is also enticed by Xiong Yi Fan’s charming personality.

Most of the characters that Riley Wang has played in various dramas have a similar personality, so he has done a good job here as well. Wan Peng has given a somewhat lowkey performance in this drama. After her utterly hilarious role in My Girlfriend Is An Alien, this one was quite modest. They had decent chemistry, and were able to comfortably carry off the role of college students. Wu Han Kun is the best actor in this drama. He is very natural and confident in his role. The rest of the actors have done a good job.

As for the story itself, it takes a very long time to tell a simple tale. The numerous hesitations and missed opportunities portrayed very innocent and simple-minded personalities of the characters. The concept of finding first love has been explored very sweetly here. The direction was good, and has brought out good performances from the actors.

You can consider watching this if you want a light-hearted, timepass drama.

Love writing. I like to understand the psyche of people I meet, even more than their life story.
