This is a drama that lets us have a peek onto the industry of investment banking and financing.
Yuan Shuai is a smart, handsome and formidably talented investment advisor. He is the childhood friend of Jiang Jun, and later becomes her boyfriend. Jiang Jun starts as a rookie in the investment banking business, with a secret goal of unearthing her father’s death, and later grows in the industry. Du Lei is Yuan Shuai’s rival in both business and love life. The story is about how the three of them shake up the investment banking business, while managing to have balanced personal lives. Li Xiao Chuan is an app developer and a start-up entrepreneur who tries to bring out a unique dating app.
Luo Yun Xi plays Yuan Shuai and has given a cheerful and fantastic performance. After his serious role in Ashes of Love, it was a pleasant change to see him in a romantic comedy. Bai Lu, who plays Jiang Jun, has, as usual, done a good job. She has a strong and sportive personality, and watching her play the role of a submissive and cute character felt a bit odd. The chemistry between Luo Yun Xi and BL is excellent, and their comic timing and camaraderie is fantastic. Kido Gao plays Du Lei and his performance was commendable. The interplays between the three of them is very natural and comfortable. Riley Wang portrayed well the role of the goofy and utterly logical Li Xiao Chuan. The rest of the cast have all done a good job.
As for the story, the concept and characterizations were pretty innovative and refreshing. The direction was impressive. The romantic relationship between Yuan Shuai and Jiang Jun was thankfully mature and natural. I was a bit disappointed at Du Lei’s turnaround, but Kido Gao did a good job of showcasing the transformation. The costume design was impressive, except for Bai Lu’s attire. Unfortunately, she was packed into masculine business suits, shirts and trousers that masked her natural beauty. The OST was pleasant and hummable. I particularly liked the way the proposal was conceptualized.
This drama is a must watch for Luo Yun Xi’s fans.
