Animals photography can be funny sometimes

I went to Queens Zoo few weeks ago. What got me the most exciting is to see how funny the animals can be sometime. When you got a chance to get REAL close to them, try to be friendly with them, you will see surprises.

Recently I spent times in taking peoples’ headshot and portrait photography, it might be difficult to capture the sense of peoples’ nature expression. I will have to advise them how to pose themselves, how to “smile” (which I think there’s not a natural and pure Smile~) and even how to walk. (come on…just be yourself, that’s what I want to capture)

YES, it’s difficult to capture animals because “most” of them doesn’t understand human language, and of course, they never know how to “pose” beautifully. However, I thought that’s the advantage and challenge. Since they (the animals) don’t CARE what they look like in the photos, you, the photographer will have to do your JOB, be creative and capture their stories behind the photography. ANIMALS TELL STORIES TOO.

I never know horse got such lining tooth until this
“Erm…..I feel good…….”
Yoh, what’re you looking at? (in New Yorker accent, may be?)
Dog in Bryant Park, his tongue never put in the mouth (that’s what the owner told me)
My girlfriend boss’s Cat at Brooklyn, what I like the most is her texture and brilliant eye.
Squirrel in Washington Square Park
I wonder if they talk….
Hawk in Washington Square Park
This seagull almost crashes me…but manage to flip his wing to break in front of me
Motherhood. This was captured at Kuala Selangor, Malaysia. What I love the most is the contrasting color between them.

Aren’t animals amazing? They sure have their own different stories and expressions we human have. We always need to learn and you never know one day what you can learn from them. Get yourself to spend one day at any zoo, you will find out it’s worth.

Thanks for spending your time to read until this spot! If you want to see more pictures, do come to my 500px photo page and I will have more to share with you soon.

Yourshot National Geographic just published the new article “The Animals We Love”, you will find out more animals photography there as well.
