Paris is not only famous for the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Arc de Triomphe … but also known as the world’s food capital with all kinds of cuisine and restaurants ranging from popular to high-end.

Here are five famous restaurants in Paris that have been ranked “3-star” by Guide Michelin — the popular guide book published by the French company Michelin for more than a century.

Overall, “3-Michelin-star” restaurants in Paris are all luxurious, well-located and expensive. However, if you want to discover French culinary arts and French savoir-vivre, the following restaurants are worth giving a try at least once in a lifetime.

L’Ambroisie ***

L’Ambroisie restaurant (3- Michelin-star) is ideally located at 9, Vosges square, 4th district Paris. The restaurant has been operating since 1986, receiving 3 * Michelin in 1988 and is the longest ranked 3-star restaurant since then. L’Ambroisie was chosen by former French President François Hollande to host former US President Barack Obama during Obama’s visit to France in 2015.

L’Arpège ***

The Michelin 3-star restaurant is known for its freshly prepared vegetables and specialties that are very creative and beautifully presented. Vegetables are grown and harvested from three gardens in Sarthe, Eure and Manche by chef Alain Passard — the restaurant owner.

Although it is located in a quiet area, this restaurant is very well-known and is a favorite place for those looking for a romantic, quiet and secluded place.

It is a small restaurant with only 25 seats and customers often have to book one month in advance.
