Joy in the Journey

What — or Who — Will Be Your Legacy?

Will people remember your achievements, or your impact on people?

Pop quiz — when people get together for 10, 20, 30, or even 50-year class reunions, do they talk about the buildings, programs, or strategic curriculum plan? OR do they talk about the teachers, support staff, and classmates who impacted those formativehigh school or college years? With few exceptions, it’s the impact of people who linger in memory.

If people are so critical to the work you do, does your hiring and coaching of employees create a timeless, memorable legacy of amazing people or one that will fade in a few months? Are you investing in a bright future, or merely filling an empty chair?

Life is a team sport. Will the people you leave behind shine brightly or leave a shadow?
