At The Very Beginning

It’s been six months since the day we started with the first version of JoyPass MVP. We came up with an idea to build a centralized loyalty platform that will help people throw away their paper coupons. We started our MVP and have the first MVP released in 2 months. We reached out to some friends who are investors, developers, consumers and all of them think that it would be a necessary thing that they will need in their normal life. We jumped into the business and tried to build as much as we can.

Why Blockchain?

The idea of decentralization. By design, the blockchain is a decentralized technology.

Yes, that’s one of reasons why we choose to go our app with blockchain technology. Other reasons are

  1. Transparency, we want every actions on our system will be recorded and anyone can audit the data. JoyPass provide a platfrom where users can interact to each others, so transparency is the most important feature that we’re expecting when go with blockchain.
  2. Fraud protection, blockchain can help us to avoid fraudulent actions/transactions.
  3. Empowered users, users own their assets and they can do what they want.
  4. Free from scams: It is much harder for users in decentralized systems to indulge in an ways that will benefit them by causing harm to other users.

But How Long Do We Need to be Master in Blockchain development?

Well, we don’t have the answer yet. We’re a team of fours engineers, most of us are web developers and we have 0 pieces of knowledge about what blockchain is. We were dream of doing an ICO to raise funds for the project. We spent a week to research about Ethereum and see that we can’t be an expert ETH developer in a month or two. Besides that, we also had bad experiences in the scalability of the main net, delays happened because of CryptoKitties. So we ended up looking for another easier solution (at least we don’t have much monies to spent to hire a blockchain developer).

Focus on what we really need

We then looked at more simple solutions, we have researched about EOS and Simple Token. We had first great impressions with EOS because of its community and its reputations. But we then all agreed to go with OST as the only solution to build a decentralized app because of its features and the idea is so great. The most reason that their vision is what we’re looking for. We want to build up an economy around our system. We also didn’t need to spend much time to learn about blockchain development and focus on our concept, business features to catch up with the trends.

Experiences with Simple Token Alpha II

Yay, so as mentioned above, we actually started this without any knowledges about Blockchain. Joining the alpha II was our best choice. We had great chances to practice with blockchain, have learned the concept from other teams as well as adjust our business to adapt to technology and requirements.

What’s We’re Doing next in Simple Token Alpha III

Again, we decided to continue with the alpha series. In this alpha III, we will try to test the wallet features, see its benefits. We actually built our own wallet system but we have not decided yet because we still want to test the benefits of embed OST’s wallet. And as in our roadmap, we’re continuing in building mobile Apps and expected to finish the mobile wallet in the next quarter.
