Data-Driven Choices — 2022 Data, 2023 Choices
As the old saying still stands, data is power.
No matter how you look at it while you are trying to make important decisions or just realizing something you worked on for months is not going so well, there is always data to learn from. We have been running JBMDesigns for 5 years now and only in the last couple of years we have been using data-driven choices to pick up the next thing to explore and support.
Now not all data is good data and that is something you have to be aware of going into a more choice-driven way of running your business or building a new thing. You also might be missing data to verify the risk around supporting something. Don’t let this stop you, but be aware that data drive choices do need to change as more data comes in. It’s not a one-and-done process but you also don’t have to be a rocket scientist to use data.
Take a couple of explains from the last year when we first planned for 2023:
Chance Rope grew 900% with the support of the iPad
We assumed it would expand our app downloads but we didn’t imagine it would grow that big. We already assumed, based on research that iPad had a smaller app offering to device ratio, as the iPhone size market is more saturated with apps than the iPad market. That made us choose to support iPad in the first place, the outcome of data from the launch of Chance Rope made us commit to an iPad 3W Writing App for 2023.
3W Writing App had a 1,511% increase in new users in 2022
With the introduction of version 1.2 which included Fast Card Mode and saving cards. As well as, marketing 3W Writing App through various platforms and ads. We had an increase in users and user retention. Using this momentum, we will expand 3W to more devices and features in 2023.
Look Out Local product page on JBMDesigns website was our second accessed page in 2022 and was only live for the last 3 months.
We launched our extension on the Chrome, Microsoft and Firefox web stores and with that, we needed a single website to house all the links. With having a centralized place and launching on Product Hunt we pushed this destination through all our marketing. Based on this data we will continue to utilize single product pages and launch with Product Hunt for our next app.
26.1% of clicks to JBMD website were from organic search
We finally got our website indexed by Google in 2021 a nice uptick from organic search in 2022. We will continue to build out new pages with the correct metadata on those links so we can continue to be indexed and increase our position on search results.
Over 500 unique users accessed and explored the JBMD Website
This is one of the most validating metrics we have to show for Juice Box Monkey Designs growth. We have been actively posting and growing on social media for two years. We then started writing quarterly updates to keep people informed on what was going on in with all our constantly changing initiatives. In 2021, we launch Reviews which grew our average session time on the site. Unique content centred around how to run your business and advice on how we run ours has been well-liked, in 2023 we plan to expand our content offerings which will drive more traffic to our site.
This is just a handful of data-driven choices we made for our initiatives in 2023. We will continue to write about data-driven choices as we think they hold the biggest power driving our growth of Juice Box Monkey Designs.
