Backstory
Not sure what Just Shopping is or what Try It, Use it is? Check out our 3 day summary:
Experience after 10 days
Here are some metrics and thoughts from 10 consecutive days of using Just Shopping.
(Full disclosure: I already use this app for all my major purchases — no more losing items in random notes)
Day 4–10
- 7 new items
- 1 new tag
- 1 set item as purchased
- 6 edits on items
- 3 deleted
Honourable thoughts
- A share button inside the app would be a great addition. Currently, when I want to share something with my wife, I have to open Safari and load the page first to access the share button there.
- The iPad and Mac views of Just Shopping have significant empty space, particularly when the window is too large for automatic tabs but too small for a permanent sidebar.
- A few links didn’t render properly (which happens occasionally), and there are three cart blocks taking up excessive space. While this isn’t a major issue on Mac, it pushes content to the next slide on iPhone. A solution would be to break away from the grid format and create more dynamic lists.
- After pasting a link from the clipboard, the text focus should automatically move to the title section. This would speed up the item creation process.
- On Mac, Safari opens in a separate app since it doesn’t support inline views like iPad and iPhone do. This creates an awkward popup that appears briefly before Safari opens, and this popup stays visible until you click “done.”
- Adding shortcuts to the share menu would make adding items to Just Shopping much faster
