If you’re not against getting down and dirty by looking through used clothes and dusty items, buying items for super cheap at Goodwill and selling them online is a great way to make some quick cash.

There are valuable items that people willingly donate to Goodwill and are marked down significantly. These items can fetch a great amount of money by being sold on websites like eBay if you know what to look for.

Before getting into the more specific items, it’s a general rule of thumb that vintage clothing does well. T-shirts, hats, anything that was produced in the ’90s and is in decent condition is worth looking up on your eBay app while you stand inside of a Goodwill. Vintage clothing has been in for a while and many vintage boutiques hire people who have a trained eye in finding profitable vintage pieces.

Since that’s out of the way, it’s time to dive into the specific items that you don’t have to know as much about to make money from.

Golf equipment

Spring is among us and golf equipment is cheap at Goodwill. Like dirt cheap. You can find an entire set of clubs for $2 a club or even a set and a bag for $20. As long as the set isn’t a Walmart brand of clubs, it will resell quickly online for much more than you paid.

The tough part about selling golf clubs, and bags, online is the shipping. It’s not impossible to ship and there are many YouTube videos out there with directions about how to do it. It’s just difficult because you might have to go out of your way to find the right types of shipping supplies to get the job done.

However, with the amount of money that you could possibly make by selling golf equipment, finding the right shipping supplies will be worth it. Especially if you charge the buyer shipping on eBay to cover it.

DVD players

For some reason, DVD players sell well. They can be found between $5-$10 and typically go for around $40. One brand to be on the lookout for is Sony. For whatever reason, Sony DVD players do well.

Another thing to keep in mind if you’re going to try flipping DVD players is that you must remember to test them before you sell them. A strike on your eBay account for selling a faulty product is never pretty. Take the DVD player home, dust it off, plug it in, put in your favorite DVD, make sure it works, then list it for sale.

Computer keyboards and old video games are other good sellers if you are in the technology section and see any. If you can find a sealed old movie, it’s definitely worth scanning and checking to see what eBay buyers have been paying for them.

Book sets

Some individual books sell well if they are in good shape, but what sells so much better are book sets. They’ll be in the book section of the Goodwill and typically are in a plastic sleeve or cardboard cover.

Some book sets have three or more books inside. Sometimes it’s a series, sometimes it’s just a bunch of similar cookbooks.

The great thing about book sets is that they typically cost the same as just buying one book and they are in more demand when selling them online. It’s a win-win for increasing your profit margin because you’re paying less and selling for more.

On top of book sets, sealed board games do extremely well if you can find one in the games section.

Conclusion

Remember, it’s never great to walk into a Goodwill and expect to find something valuable to sell. Actually, you should walk into the store with zero expectations, that way if you do find something then it’s a good day.
