Dear Juiice community,
My name is Bor, I’m a new member of the Juiice team that will take part in building the Juiice app and the audience for this new amazing content platform which I believe is something that hasn’t been done before.
Part of this effort will be writing a series of product updates on the development of the platform where I, together with the team, show the behind the curtain thinking, developing and core philosophy of the product.
In this first instalment we will be exploring the vast potential landscape of the internet — more precisely the different people that would benefit from the platform like Juiice. Think of it as target personas.
Firstly, creation and interaction on Juiice is tokenized — consequently, only the best content is successful meaning it gets the most reach, recognition and rewards (Juiice points and Juiice tokens). The cream of the top content can also be minted on the blockchain, engraved into the history of the internet with a claimed owner that can be traded and sold.
The case of viral content
Drip report blew up two years ago by remixing a popular from xxxtentacion. The video today has about 11 million views and 350k likes. Even though Drip report got tens of millions of views and likes, his content became famous on tiktok and used in memes, he received no compensation for his effort (well, only likes and views). Drip report got nothing from his success which forced him to monetise himself in a different way, which he even addressed in another video. This brought to him additional work and stress which we believe is not justified and rather a problem of the platform.
The term ‘Bronies’
‘My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic’ is a Canadian/American flash cartoon series, based on Hasbro’s My Little Pony franchise. A show originally planned from the producers that the target demographic is little kids. Anyone aware of the rabbit hole that is the fandom of ‘bronies’ knows that starting in 2010 that went far from the case.
‘Bronies’ — The term “brony,” a portmanteau of “bro” and “pony,” was coined on 4chan shortly after the pilot episode (2010) of the show on the Hub network. Me being a young edgy teenager at the time that frequently visited 4chan was a witness to this internet phenomenon unravel before my very eyes, even remembering the thread where the term was coined into existence and accepted by others.
In 1989 the internet as we know it today has been coded. That piece of history has been recently sold as an NFT (‘web source code NFT sells for $5.4 million’). The My Little Pony audience is also known for its zeal of collectable figurines (please don’t send the picture). Prices vary from $25.00 to $2,000.00+. One could argue that there exists a collector out there that would have the need to showcase and own that very thread.
Ego free content
A major twist from the current social media platforms is that while you are ranked and rewarded for your content you are not tied to a profile. You anonymously post content, for which you lose a point but gain points if the content gains likes and comments. This simple interaction changes the entire premise on which content is created.
One is judged by the merit of their content, not who they are.
What you say and make matters. What you say and make is different when you identify with it or can be identified.
Impactful discussions and valuable information
I will share with you two guys that I believe are the modern Greek philosophers educating the masses. Meet Chris Do — the founder of Thefutur, an online youtube channel helping graphical artists develop business skills. And meet Andrew Huberman, professor of neurobiology and ophthalmology at Stanford School of Medicine that runs an online podcast.
This two giants have been rewarded for their philanthropic efforts by the people, their audience and viewers. Rewarded from monetising the content on YouTube, donations from their subscribers and creating a personal brand that echoes across the internet.
But they undertook this effort with great risk. Let’s take them out of the equation and put an average Joe into this position. If Joe also wanted to give some valuable advice he would most probably not be rewarded for it. A creator with organic content usually sees his return on investment on average in 2 years while also producing new content (for SEO and YouTube). Not to mention Joe would not have access to production quality equipment.
Closing words
Product updates is a collective effort and series from the Juiice team to show our community why we believe in this project. In this first update we wrote about potential users and use cases of a tokenized content platform. In the next article we will explore the point system that will hold sway over the users. Stay tuned, if you’d like to continue this conversation hop over into our telegram group!
