This week in esports:

  • North American VALORANT returns to center stage
  • Smash Bros. Ultimate & Melee see more big events
  • League play continues for LoL, Overwatch, and Call of Duty
  • Street Fighter V qualifiers for East Asia

…and more! Read on for the details.

🌟Top Tier: VALORANT Meta Surfaces

At this point, almost all top esports organizations have picked up a VALORANT team. Just in the last week or so we’ve seen compLexity, Team Liquid, Envy, and others announce brand new squads.

And this should come as no surprise, either, as the meta (and viewership) for VALORANT esports begin to take shape.

This weekend, we return to North America for arguably one of the most stacked tournaments yet, featuring essentially every top NA team: the $25,000 PAX Arena Invitational (part of Riot’s “Ignition Series”).

Group play kicked off this week and will continue until Friday, when the single elimination playoffs bracket begins. Possible finals contenders include but aren’t limited to, TSM, T1, Gen.G, TSM, Cloud9, Sentinels, and Immortals.

Juked’s interface is perfect with this format, especially when trying to keep track of your favorite players. We’ve got the main stream, player POVs, and of course, brackets, standings, schedules, and VODs in one place.

Get On My Line 2020 — Ultimate

GOML Melee was a blast to watch last week (especially that nail-biting finals). But the future is now and that comes with newer games too.

This weekend GOML, moves on to its Smash Ultimate portion which includes a jaw-dropping 2000+ registered players, and top-tier-talent like Tweek, BestNess, Dabuz, Myran, Ravenking, and more in the bracket.

Pools start on Saturday but don’t blink because the show will move into the Top 8 the very next day. It’s been a while since we’ve seen some of these Ultimate players in their element, so we’re excited to be capturing every moment for you right here at Juked.

🔎CHECK IT OUT: Ludwig Hosts Melee

If you like to keep things old school, we totally get it, which is why we also want to bring the Ludwig Ahgren Championships Series 2 to light. This two-day Melee tournament will essentially give everyone from GOML last week a new chance to make it to the top, and a chance at the huge (for Smash standards) $20,000 prize pool.

The best players in NA will duke it out for honor (and cash) including Hungrybox, Mango, Zain, Axe, Plup, SFAT, and plenty of others. Matches start on Saturday so while you’re waiting for your favorite players, you can surely catch some of GOML as well. Lucky for you, our site will make it feel like you never left the stream in the first place, so make sure to watch it right here.

Capcom Pro Tour — Asia East Qualifier

After a fairly long hiatus, the Capcom Pro Tour is back into the swing of things with a series of online qualifiers for each region, continuing the event’s global inclusiveness in a COVID-dominated world.

This weekend, we head to East Asia, which, if you know anything about fighting games you already know, is the strongest region in the world.

PUBG Continental S2 EU

Saturday and Sunday, 24 of the best battle royale players in Europe will face off for a huge sum of $200,000.

The cancellation of the Global Series means that players from each region will stay within their continent, so to make sure you catch them in their golden-hour, set a reminder at Juked and we’ll let you know when it’s their time to shine.

⚙️ THE GRIND: C9 vs TL… Nuff Said

LoL Championship Series

Cloud9 showed us that they aren’t invincible last weekend, and now they’re on an even playing field as Team Liquid with both teams sitting at 10–2. One will rise up in their match this Sunday and we’ll know for sure if C9 has just had a bad week.

LoL European Championship

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. G2 Esports has taken quite the tumble this season and they haven’t quite stopped rolling just yet. In an unprecedented underdog story, they will face off against Rogue this Saturday which might be their ticket back into the limelight before it’s lights out.

LoL Champions Korea

Gen.G will try to dethrone DRX this Saturday, as they only trail behind by a single win. Both teams have extremely consistent records, but Korean League of Legends has a history of upsets so we will have to see for ourselves.

Overwatch League

It’s a battle of the coasts this week in the OWL as Florida Mayhem takes on the San Francisco Shock tomorrow. Both teams hold relatively high standings in the league, but Mayhem has been on an upward trend while the Shock has been the opposite.

Call of Duty League

The Florida Mutineers are the smallest margin behind their opponents this week, Dallas Empire, and winning a majority of the maps played just might secure them the second-place spot on the leaderboards. Every point matters as playoffs approach next month, so stay tuned.
