The last two weekends were some of the craziest this year in terms of the sheer quantity of top-tier esports events. Things are finally calming down a little, but that doesn’t mean this weekend is a bore-fest — there’s still a ton to get excited about, so without further ado, let’s jump into it.

Top-Tier: Berlin Major — New Legends Stage 🎖️

CS:GO’s Berlin Major continues this week with the New Legends Stage which will bring the tournament one step closer to the long-anticipated New Champions Stage next week. 16 teams are facing off in a Swiss-style round robin with the top 8 teams advancing to the final stage where the $1,000,000 prize pool awaits. Make sure to keep track of your favorite team as they progress through the standings.

Team Liquid is riding high off an incredible performance last week across several esports titles (🥈 at TI9, 🥇 at LCS Summer, 🥇 at Shine 2019), and they are the team to beat at the Berlin Major as well. Needless to say, it’s a damn good time to be a TL fan.

We’ve already seen well over 250,000 concurrent viewers in the early stages of the Berlin Major and we’re expecting that to ramp up by a multiple of 4–5x by the end of next week. So grab some Snax and get your streaming dev1ce ready for some adreNaline pumping action (I’m not sorry for this).

Catch the action live here, and find more tournament info here.

EPIC: Overwatch League Season 2 Playoffs 🍂, Celtic Throwdown 🕹️️, and more!

Overwatch League Playoffs

The Overwatch League Playoffs are almost here, and this year feature a brand new expanded format. Teams who placed 7th-12th in the regular season will now face off in the “Play-Ins” bracket for a chance to make it into the final two slots in the 8-team Playoffs, which is now double-elimination.

Matches kick off August 30th with Chengdu Hunters vs Guangzhou Charge at 6:00 p.m. PDT and Shanghai Dragons vs Philadelphia Fusion at 9:00 p.m. PDT with the winners continuing on through Saturday to play vs. either London Spitfire or Seoul Dynasty. It’s do or die time for every one of these squads.

Celtic Throwdown & Summer Jam

The Fighting Game Community has had a hell of a Summer already, and the action won’t be dying down anytime soon. This weekend features two major events — over in Europe, this year’s Celtic Throwdown features “Premier” events for both Street Fighter V and Mortal Kombat 11. In the states, you can catch the Tekken 7 “Master” event at Summer Jam.

Of course, these being FGC events and all, you’ll be able to catch about 10 more fighting game tournaments at each event. If you want to try and follow everything, Google my be your best friend; following @AceKingOffsuit on Twitter is another good bet.

LCK Summer Playoffs Finals

Dear LCK fans: SKT T1 made it into finals! T1 had a rough start to the split but seem to have established their footing in the Korean league, showing that Faker can still contend for the title of the best player in the world. If you have a clear schedule on Saturday at 1:00 a.m. PDT and interest in underdog super stories, this match is a must-watch.
