The holidays have begun! But this does not mean that you need to forget about studying and about English. No! No way! On the contrary, now there is even more time to practice, but only using pleasant methods. Reading books, watching TV shows, communicating with foreign friends, and so on. Now I want to share with you my emotions about an American TV series, maybe you watched it in Russian, or maybe not. But I definitely recommend watching it in English!

Once Upon a Time is an American fairy tale drama television series on ABC, which debuted on October 23, 2011, and concluded on May 18, 2018. The first six seasons are largely set in the fictitious seaside town of Storybrooke, Maine, with the characters of Emma Swan and Regina Mills as the leads, while the seventh and final season takes place in Seattle, Washington, in the fictitious neighborhood of Hyperion Heights, with a new main narrative led by Mills and Henry Mills, Regina Mills and Emma Swan’s son. The show borrows elements and characters from Disney and popular Western literature, folklore, and fairy tales.

It is impossible to retell the plot of the series, each season and series has its own plot. But you won’t be bored. The general meaning is that our favorite fairy-tale characters are thrown into the real world by a spell and only the Savior who lives in our modern world can save everyone. It is impossible to tell the whole story, but throughout the seasons you will meet absolutely all the fairy-tale characters. Among the main:

  1. Regina mills, formerly known as the Evil Queen, and temporarily known as Roni, and briefly known as Wilma, and Ursula are characters in the TV series Once upon a time in a fairy tale. The evil Queen is based on the eponymous character from the fairy tale “snow White” and the child of the Miller’s daughter from the fairy tale “Rumpelstiltskin”. She also temporarily takes the place of the sea witch from the fairy tale “the little Mermaid”. It was she who put the curse on the fairy world.

2. Emma Swan, also known as the Savior and the Greatest Light, previously known as Dark and Dark Swan, briefly known as Princess Leia, and in the alternate world known as Princess Emma, is a character in the TV series Once upon a time in a fairy tale and Once upon a time in Wonderland. Emma Swan is based on the title character of the tale “the Ugly duckling”. It is she who must break Regina’s curse.

3. Killian Jones, better known as Hook , formerly known as Dark and temporarily known as Prince Charles, is a character in the television series Once upon a time in a fairy tale. He first appears in the fourth episode of the second season. His role is played by actors Colin O’donoghue and Oliver bell. Married to Emma Swan. The hero is based on the play’s eponymous character Peter pan, or the boy who doesn’t grow up.

4. Peter Pan is a character in the TV series Once upon a time. Chapter of the Lost boys. He is also Malcolm-the father of Rumpelstiltskin, who abandoned his son in order to have eternal life, possess magic and fully use netland, which required becoming a child, which is impossible with a recognized son. Peter Pan is based on the character of the same name from the play “Peter pan”. It is also based on the Central character of the legend “the pied Piper of Hamelin”. One of the most dangerous villains of the series.

5. Rumpelstiltskin is the Darkest, strongest of the wizards of the Enchanted Forest. Very cunning and astute, mysterious and evasive rascal. He is the teacher of the three great witches of the mills family-Cora, Regina, and Zelina.

This is the hero-trickster, who took possession of a spell that in the future bewitched all the inhabitants of the Enchanted Forest and sent them to the city of Storybrooke in Maine. He is considered the most dangerous creature in the entire fairy tale. Even the Evil Queen, other witches, and rulers are afraid of his magic powers. The main method he uses to create his magic is to make deals with other characters (he didn’t stop doing this even when he was imprisoned by Cinderella). Rumpelstiltskin always warns that “ you have to pay for magic.” This lesson he had learned from his predecessor’s magical powers, which had burdened him. But even so, a True love appeared in his life — Belle, whom Rumple took as a servant in return for freeing her city from the war with the ogres. After a while, she becomes the only thing the Dark one cares about, except for his son, although he stubbornly hides it. In Storybrooke, Rumpelstiltskin becomes Mr. gold, the owner of a pawn shop and antique store, and an influential businessman. In Seattle, Rumpelstiltskin becomes detective Weaver. It is based on the main character of the Grimm fairy tale “Rumpelstiltskin”. And in the future, the viewer learns that the “whole” character was based on the image of a Monster from the fairy tale “Beauty and the Beast” and also the image of a Crocodile from the story about Peter Pan. There is a certain similarity with mephistophilus from Goethe’s “Faust”. AND THIS IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER!
