Hello! Today I want to tell you about the main forms of business communication. Let’s start!

Business communication refers to social communication — the interaction of people to exchange business information, carried out in a certain way.

Business communication can take the following forms: business negotiations, business meetings, emails, public speeches (conferences, presentations), discussions, business breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

In order to achieve the set goals, several rules must be followed during each form.

Firstly, don’t forget that you communicate in a business environment, don’t use informal gestures, inappropriate language, follow the rules of business communication, respect your partners.

Secondly, use the following rules of business communication:

  • be punctual, plan your time;
  • clearly formulate your thoughts, the purpose of the conversation, and don’t say too much, remember — not only you value your time;
  • keep your composure, control your feelings and emotions.

The most important thing is the structure. Stick to it in any form of business communication. So,

  • In emails there must be a takeaway at the beginning of an email. Also, try to bold any specific action items and ask for only one thing.
  • Start every meeting with “next steps”:
  1. takeaways
  2. your assertion
  3. focus on the process that you either need approval, or input.
  • During the discussion remember that you should ask questions that have purpose, you have a limited amount of time, and be aware of cues to end the conversation.
