As Chair of the Minister’s Patient and Family Advisory Council for Ontario, I’m always looking for ways to champion the patient, family, and caregiver voice across the province and within the Ministry. I think Change Day Ontario is one of those opportunities.

Change Day Ontario has been designed to empower people within the health system to make positive changes through making pledges and taking actions, big or small, to improve compassionate quality care. The campaign is about people engaging with one another through their ideas and stories; sharing them online and through social media; overcoming barriers; and ultimately, helping to improve the experience of health care for patients and providers alike.”

I love when individuals can connect with one another in many ways, including harnessing the power of social media, to share how we might envision our role in an even stronger health care system across Ontario.

Participants in Change Day Ontario are individuals from all across the health care system. They are doctors, nurses, therapists, administrators, leaders, patients, families, and advocates — and yes, I realize these roles are not exclusive.

Our team at the Ministry made our pledge.

I pledge to…Strengthen and support patient engagement

How You Can Get Involved
Change Day Ontario has been underway since early September, but you still have time to make your pledge.

On Friday, November 17th at 12:15, Dr. Joshua Tepper, CEO of Health Quality Ontario, and Gail Paech, CEO of AMS Healthcare will lead a
‘Tweet-Chat’ as a celebration and discussion on our collective experiences
to improve health care for patients and providers alike.

I am looking forward to joining you. I hope you find some time to join in as well at #CHANGEDAYON.
