I promise to wake up on Wednesday and work hard to make the world, the country, and my community the best place it can be.

I’m very worried about the election outcomes. However, I do take comfort in knowing that whatever does happen on Tuesday, we’ll still be a country full of great people, doing things that matter and standing up for what we believe in.

The people that are fighting for equitable access to high-quality education will get up on Wednesday, and keep doing everything they can to provide that. The people who are making sure everyone can get the healthcare that they need, will keep helping people. The people who are fighting to both hold jobs to support their families and create jobs for others are going to continue to do that. The people who are working to slow the damage we’re doing to the environment will continue to innovate and preserve the precious natural resources that we have. The people who fight for farmers to be able to produce the food we need to survive, will continue to protect our ability to eat. The people who fight for everyone’s right to love who they love, will continue loving and supporting the love of others. The people who want to, and need to, see a world where they can walk safely down the street and not feel targeted by prejudices, will continue to fight for everyone’s right to exist wherever they are, wearing whatever they feel comfortable in, at whatever time of the day.

And sure, the corporations that are greedy will continue to be greedy, bigoted people will continue to be bigots, and undoubtedly the jerk at the gym will continue to be the jerk at the gym.

While the elections are a time for us all to discuss our values, (and hopefully elect people who represent those values) every day our country, states, and communities are shaped by our individual character. So no matter what happens, we all have to go back to doing our best to improve the world in our own ways, have the integrity not to give up the fight, and keep voting every day with our actions.
