Lauren is a writer, a life coach and a yoga instructor. She firmly believes in the mind-body connection, and in the ability for an improvement in one to benefit the other. Lauren helps her clients to develop the skills they need to make health and happiness easy in a complex world. She helps her clients out of the self-limiting beliefs and behaviors that stifle meaningful movement and block happiness. Lauren works with each individual or group to develop self-esteem, clarity, and the courage to walk along paths of personal fulfillment.

1. When does branded content resonate the best with followers? Is there a formula to help ensure it will be valuable or enjoyable for people?

I believe that branded content works best when it’s integrated and feels authentic. When there’s too much of a push, my audience (or any for that matter) is likely to feel turned off. My followers like beautiful content, inspirational content, and real content so I create that for them in a way that resonates with my experience. The long and the short, YES, we are in business, but we win when we’re true to who we are and what we believe in. My sponsored content is best when it’s clothing I wear and feel good wearing, or products that enhance my life and I really use in life.

2. What are have been some of your biggest challenges when working with brands?

Many brands want to curate images and content, which means taking away some of my creative agency. Of course, I’m eager to collaborate in ways that are mutually beneficial, but again it works best when it’s genuine. Relationships, business or otherwise, work best when their equal.

3. What have been some positive ways your followers have interacted with you sponsored content?

My viewers are always asking what I’m wearing, where I got it, and I know because so many of them go out and buy the content I promote.

4. What tips would you offer marketers in what to do vs. what not to do when it comes to co-creating sponsored content?

Choose influencers who resonate with your brand message, look at engagement more than numbers, and be open to invest in your content creation and be patient with the results.
