Companies announce launch of CSP ecosystem & new content specifications

Back in August, Walmart announced the acquisition of Jet. As they finalise the integration of the two companies, all parties want to ensure that they deliver a great shopper experience across both sites (walmart.com and jet.com).

Consistent with their existing approach, the Walmart-Jet team emphasised the importance of high quality product content in achieving that goal. The team has identified their top-selling SKUs and asked suppliers to have their content updated (according to existing Walmart specifications) by mid January, in anticipation of having products available to shoppers on both sites soon thereafter.

The good news for suppliers is that Walmart has streamlined this process, focusing on those data attributes/fields that really matter and help shoppers make informed purchase decisions. As a result, the number of required attributes in their new content specifications (Version 3.0) has decreased from 32 to only 4:

  1. Name
  2. Brand/manufacturer
  3. Identifier type (e.g., GTIN)
  4. Identifier (i.e., the GTIN itself)

To make that happen, authorised content service providers (CSPs) like Alkemics are here to help. We’re certified to send and publish content on walmart.com and now jet.com on the Content Spec 3.0, adhering to the latest joint standards.

What do you need to get started? Contact us on our web site or at contact@alkemics.com to find out how we can help you connect with Walmart and Jet to publish your best product content.
