Going With The Flow
A poem about the most important moments in life.

I used to rush through
the traffic just to get to
the stop that will allow
me to claim some kind
of victory.
Then, I learned what
love is, what joy is,
and those moments
in between all the doing
where I learned to savor
the heart to hearts.
That’s when I knew
that I’m okay to be
known and loved by
a few.
If by chance, my talents
can be used to improve
the world, I’d work on it
like I work on everything
in my life, one step at
a time while sipping my
cup of joy, love, and
happiness.
In the end, it’s not the
remembrance by many,
or even the remembrance
by a few, but my own
satisfaction of
time well spent in the name
of love each and every day
that matters.
It’s the twinkle in
my loved one’s eye,
the warmth in their
soul, and the steady
nurturing life that
we build that matters
most of all.
There’s no destination,
no reward, no ambition,
in fully immersing myself
into the flow of love and joy.
Too often we rush to accomplish the impossible. During this pandemic, as I sit in uncertainty, I can see clearly the important moments in life. Those moments when your loved ones demonstrate love and fill your soul with warmth. Those moments when you give to those that you love the warmth that they cherish. These are the moments when joy is created.
That joy is the kind where you can build a real life. It doesn’t happen from just going from one productivity to the next. It happens in between the moments of action and doing. It happens when space is created to unleash the spirit. It happens when there’s an exchange of thoughts, feelings, and soul.
So, slow down the flow to feel the essence of your days.
