What?
Jungle 2 will launch tomorrow, Friday November 23, at approximately 1620 UTC.
The current chain, hereinafter called “Jungle Classic”, will be paused and made available until the end of 2018.
Why?
- There are two “poisoned blocks” in the Jungle Classic which make resynching very inconvenient. You need to be on a downgraded version of EOSIO to synch these blocks. (Instructions here: https://github.com/CryptoLions/EOS-Jungle-Testnet) It is too high a barrier to entry for people who want to add nodes onto the Jungle Testnet.
2. The community wants it.
Information for Users
- There will be three distributions:
1) ERC-20 initial distribution (token name EOS, based on mainnet distribution rules: 10 EOS liquid max, all resources staked 50/50)
2) JUNGLE Token AirDrop (using ERC20 distribution list)
3) Accounts created and balances migrated by on registration form. See the footer of https://jungletestnet.io/ bottom page.
- To migrate an account or smart contract created after the initial distribution (ie. any account created manually) go to JungleTestnet.io, and fill out the registration form on bottom of the page. (There have been 86,000 accounts created in the Jungle Testnet, since launch — so, not including those created from the initial ERC-20 distribution.)
You have to add your account before we launch tomorrow for us to do the porting. Otherwise, you’ll have to do it manually.
- Get update in the Jungle Testnet Telegram Channel.
- Find key information on our new website JungleTestnet.io, or new Github Repository.
- Our site, JungleTestnet.io will be community edited. We invite the Jungle Community to make changes via pull-request. See the site’s footer for a link to the repository.
- There will be a new monitor/explorer. The URL will be announced in Telegram and made available on JungleTestnet.io. The Jungle Classic monitor will remain on jungle.cryptolions.io.
- All users get 4̶k̶b̶ 8kb RAM. You will have to re-purchase RAM above 4̶k̶b̶ 8kb.
- Realize there is a new Chain ID, and new end-point URLs. You may have to reconfigure your wallets or key management systems (namely, Scatter).
For Developers
- If you’d like your smart contract to be ported, register the account on JungleTestnet.io, and fill out the registration form on bottom of the page. (Note: We will port the contract, but not contract tables.)
- Contracts will get RAM according to their current USED statistics, not according to how much they have reserved on Jungle Classic.
- Stay tuned to new website JungleTestnet.io and the new Github Repository, for scripts that will make node creation and synchronization super fast and super easy.
- Realize there is a new Chain ID, and new end-point URLs.
- Export script will be available next week for exporting data from contracts code and contracts tables for all scopes
FOR BLOCK PRODUCERS
- First of all, thank you for all the time and IT expenses you’ve put into supporting the Jungle Testnet.
- Please wait for the pause of Jungle Classic which will be announced in telegram.
- Reconfigure your hardware for use on Jungle 2.0
- Register your BP on the new monitor (URL to be announced upon launch). Registering will auto-generate an installer script for you.
- Look in github for tools scripts to make managing node easier than ever (both auto and manual synchronization, and more).
