Why Everyone Wants to Have Power?
We are all, right?
Power, interesting thing right?. Power is the ability or capacity to influence or regulate the course of things. At first glance, if we had power, we would easily control anything in this world without any problems, right?. Is it that easy? No. Let’s look at some sources of power itself,
- Knowledge
One of the sources is knowledge. As Likewise As the words of the wise, knowledge is power. That’s right, to have power requires knowledge of current conditions, future conditions, and can take the advantages of several possibilities to succeed.
- Wealth
Power is usually followed by the existence of an organization or group, and if there is a group or organization Then there is a publication. One way to have a publication is to have sufficient funds. That’s where, wealth is in power, apart from publication, wealth is used and sometimes, can ‘buy’ knowledge, for example by buying books or more advanced equipment.
- Organization
Authority, party, and government are one of the efficient and quick ways to achieve or gain power. Because it uses the resources and qualities of people that are multiplied in a number, the stronger a party is in a situation. And the burden that is borne is not as big as if you move alone (without a community or organization), the advantages and disadvantages will be accepted by all people in the organization.
- Personality
What is the influence of personality on power?, the type of character or habit that character influences strength. Often, successful or intelligent people take advantage of small or large possibilities in dangerous or safe situations. And social status has a huge impact on power, because with social status, a person’s mindset can change at any time.
Cool, right? There are many ways to gain power, from anywhere, anywhere. Armed with knowledge, we can estimate and calculate our golden opportunities, with wealth we can further support and develop our power by purchasing goods and supplies, and our organization has a stronghold that can protect and expand our power. Of course, with a good reputation for personality and social status, we will have additional support to increase our power. Wait, like the answer to the question at the beginning of the story, it’s actually not easy to get power.
- There doesn’t seem to be any downside to having more knowledge, but if we continue to explore without resting, arrogance and narcissism will rise from the idea that others are more ignorant and know nothing No one is better than us. We also find it more difficult to accept other people’s opinions and we’re always going to focus on that ours is always right.
- Wealth, like knowledge, has its drawbacks. Greediness, recklessness, and corruption can come at any time, especially when internal and large-scale conflicts will worsen the situation. And wealth is a volatile thing, it can go up and down at any time, and in certain countries or situations, can ‘buy’ laws.
- Organization is a complicated thing, despite the many advantages. Grabbing power, taking advantage, forming your own group, and stealing money from inferior people are all things that are often encountered. Neglecting an organization’s primary goals is increasing in severity, even though it is the most important thing in an organization.
- Personality and social status do change a person’s mind. It can make a person or a group choose it, because of a promising terms & conditions, whereas in some countries and situations, these terms & conditions are forfeited after the chosen one becomes the leader or the desired one
So, we want to have great power because we can control one or more parties, the situation and the course of fate. But often, this advantage is misused. An effective way to avoid misuse is to study cases and strategies of how power operates and declines. With this, we can study power, if it is used as much as possible, or for power and satisfaction.
