Measles Outbreak
Understandably, Americans are upset about the spread of measles in the United States. Were we not told by authorities in 2000 that the measles virus had been eradicated? Yet, today we are being warned by these same authorities that the spread of this highly contagious disease is accelerating. Why is this happening? And what should we do if exposed to the measles?
First, getting vaccinated or revaccinated may not help. Dr. Suzanne Humphries, in her book Dissolving Illusions, states that the data suggest that “the problems with measles vaccines are going to get worse, not better, in the future”1. Dr. Humphries explains the problems with revaccination and why we may continue to face future outbreaks.
Secondly, if exposed, you can support your body before or during a measles outbreak by boosting your nutrition, thereby completely avoiding the measles, or at least complications from the disease. According to Dr. Humphries:
The efficiency of the cellular immune system is tied to the intake of dietary nutrients, including vitamin A, vitamin C, zinc, selenium and protein rich in vitamin B. Poor nutrition leads to impaired cellular immune responses, which results in worse outcomes after measles infection or exposure.2
She also asserts that there is a difference between contracting the disease in this country, rather than in an undeveloped country:
Measles remains one of the leading causes of childhood mortality in countries where malnutrition, poor sanitation, and inadequate medical care are prevalent . . .Measles is often a fatal disease among socioeconomically deprived children in tropical countries.3
So, don’t panic if you think you were exposed to the measles. You can use vitamins A and C to support your body, if you think you were exposed. You can also use these vitamins to avoid complications if you contract the measles.
On the other hand, if you do choose to get the measles vaccine, Dr. Thomas Levy has an article on his website entitled “Vitamin C With Vaccinations” which specifies options to be taken to prevent any associated toxicity of the vaccination.
Remember, news reports in our country emphasize the spread and the number of cases, while omitting the absence of deaths and the importance of nutrition.
Instead of being upset about reports of measles breaking out in our country, perhaps we should be upset that the authorities never mention the absence of deaths and the importance of nutrition when they report these outbreaks.
Do the authorities know the fragility of vaccine immunity? Are they embarrassed that the vaccination program isn’t working as planned? Are they worried that they may be losing some control over us?
Nevertheless, we can take control over our bodies. Through simple nutrition, we can — as individuals — exert control over our own lives. That sounds like the American dream to me!
