Wow, it has been quite a while! Our last progress report was pretty long ago, and much has changed since then.

Firstly, our general aesthetic/perspective has changed:

Now Arclight is a 3rd person adventure game! It does, however, maintain the 2.5D art style that we wanted to go for.

My role is still primarily Art, Level Design, and AI. We’ve decided to create our environment with Voxels and our characters with sprites. This gives everything a blocky appearance while still having the aesthetic of 2D sprites. I hand-crafted everything in the scene with MagicaVoxel. The trees have basic rigs and a swaying animation made with blender.

Soon I will be creating the AI for the enemies. I will also be designing the interiors of the buildings and trying to make a couple of shaders to give the 3D objects a more 2D appearance.
