Motivation is a Myth.

If you’re searching for more motivation. It’s not because you’re “unmotivated” — it’s because you don’t give a shit about what you are doing. It’s never too late to digress. Time is the most valuable thing we have.

The worst advice is advice. That’s it — let’s be honest advice is just awful. Everyone has an opinion because that’s the easy part right. Choosing whose opinion to value is really important.

Advice is just relative and impartial. Answers like “you should” or “why don’t you” and “that’s what you should do”. Well, that sounds wonderful, but most advice is hardly worth taking seriously.

The worst advice that I hear often is this: “ You too, can be everything that you want to be” .. not necessarily, maybe in some kind of make-belief world where everybody is going to be amazing… I just don’t see people putting in the work to do it.

So, motivation — well, I don’t know anything about it because people I work with don’t need it. They’re driven and FULLY committed to a way of living. So this idea that we need motivation.. we don’t need motivation…

We need to find ourselves and what is true and honest and when something really fucking matters to us… I know this to be true for me I will do whatever it takes.. to look deeper.. ask more questions of myself. Wake up early, be ready to face the challenges… that’s not motivation its purpose and that’s what really matters. That’s what fuels grit to push past difficult situations where you want to throw in the towel.. when you’ve got nothing left. And it happens, more than you think or plan for.

Motivation is a temporary fix. A misunderstood desire. The purpose is what matters. It’s what stays with you through the good and bad times.

We get hooked on having 6 month, 1-year, 5-year goals. If you have goals then you will be motivated to achieve those goals. That’s bullshit. A goal is something that goes away when you hit it. Once you’ve reached it, it’s gone. You could always set another one, then you have to get pumped up and motivated for the next one.

“The reason that most of us are unhappy most of the time is that we set our goals, not for the person we’re going to be when we reach them, but we set our goals for the person we are when we set them.”

My final thought: I just think that there is something more underlying within ourselves that if we better understand, can create more purpose an authenticity. If we authentically understand what drives us and what we actually fucking care about. We can make more meaningful decisions with our time.

If you’re searching for more motivation. It’s not because you’re “unmotivated” — it’s because you don’t give a shit about what you are doing. It’s never too late to digress. Time is the most valuable thing we have.
