Preface of Project JADS

One day, three guys met in a University Lab in Utrecht. One of them is doing a Phd in Utrecht University on data science (for medical), the other is a data scientist in a food/nutrition company (Danone), the 3rd guy is a former data analyst from the biggest energy compnay (Shell).
On one hand, companies are hiring a lot of data scientists and trying to push the data-driven mind in the company. On the other hand, we all noticed that there are people doing data science in a very wrong way =.=. We already have a lot data scientist tutorials and blogs, they are all brilliant. And I learnt a lot from them as well.
However, we did notice that most of the blogs and tutorials are very limited in replication or hard to implement. Most importantly, the goal/value to read those blogs is to learn and use it in our own practice. Therefore, we three try to make a balance among:
- Algorithm:
Who doesn’t just let you copy our code and run it, wow, it works, but then what? We will explain the algorithm (it’s very technical, but don’t be scared, we will make sure you understand.)
- Implementation
We don’t just talk algorithm, it’s important though. A end-to-end implementation will be introduced and most importantly, code will be shared :-) We even host off-line talks to explain and help you do the hands-on! Come and talk with us.
- Use cases
Algorithm and implementation are important, but without a attractive use case and data, it’s boring, isn’t it? We scan the web, write our own web crawler to get the data if necessary. Playing data with A LOT OF FUN is important :-P
You wanna become a just another data scientist? Become a JADS, to master the data and create value for the world
