So, let’s start there then!
What to Consider When Buying an HP Laptop
When you start looking at a new laptop, it can be very easy to get trapped in the “they’re all the same” mindset because, at first glance, every laptop you see seems very similar but they aren’t Knowing what you need to consider before buying an HP laptop will help to decide on the right one for you all that much easier.
Size
When you look around at a new laptop, one thing that you need to consider is how you intend on using it. If you’re primarily going to use the laptop at your desk, choosing a larger laptop may be a better option but if you’ve got portability in mind, choosing a smaller laptop which is designed to be slimmer and thus more lightweight, making it easier to carry around from place to place.
Price
Laptops can be expensive. You should know how much you’re willing to spend on a new laptop. An easy way to see what options are available at your price range is to narrow down your budget as much as possible. For example, if you can comfortably spend up to $1,000, you will have a lot of options to choose from. However, if you narrow it down further to say between $800 and $1,000, then you will get a list that is more focused on your budget.
Design
Laptops today are being designed to be multi-function machines. Case in point, many laptops are now 2-in-1 laptops, meaning that they have a keyboard, just like a traditional laptop but have a flexible hinge that allows you to use the monitor like a tablet as well. While these can be pretty handy, especially if you use a tablet to do a lot of creative work, some may still prefer the original clamshell design of a laptop. Choosing the right one for you will come down to how you see yourself using the laptop and how each design could benefit the work you need to do.
Screen
As mentioned above, many laptops these days come with a touch screen that can be very useful for doing design work or noting things on the screen while using it in tablet mode. When it comes to the screen of your laptop, you want to pay attention to the resolution that it displays. While 4K has started to become the standard resolution for newer laptops because it can provide the best-looking image, especially if you do any video or photo editing or even any graphic design work, but a resolution of 1080p should be the very minimum that you should consider purchasing.
CPU
The CPU, known as the Central Processing Unit, is the brain of your laptop. Any program or application that you try to run goes through this unit. If you are doing any kind of creative work, you are likely to have more than one application open at a time and with a processor that can’t handle all of that, it could cause problems completing your work. A baseline for your CPU should no less than a Core i7 processor which can handle multiple tasks with ease.
RAM
Many people see the word RAM and get it confused with the storage that their laptop has. RAM is an acronym for Random Access Memory and is an internal memory that allows you to do multiple things at once when you’re using the laptop. As expected, having more RAM is better than having less but there is a caveat with all of that RAM. More RAM can mean more expensive than other laptops with less RAM. A good place to start is with 4GB. This is usually the standard and can handle many things on your laptop at once.
Storage
Laptops can come with either an SSD or HDD inside of it although seeing an HDD or Hard Disk Drive is becoming less common. This is because while they are cheaper than SSD, also known as Solid State Drive, they can be a power sink of sorts, using much more power than an SSD to run inside your laptop.
