Yes, yes and yes !! What an insightful post, Danielle — from a guy who literally wrote a book on this stuff. Absolutely agree on every point.
Flow is incredibly powerful.
For me there must be common ground .. notional goals, rules, interests .. working out a common language .. to spark and align those energies. Kids on a playground a great metaphor for that.
Competitors and collaborators may share a love of winning .. but it may be a difference of winning over (defeating) vs. winning with (achieving).
Binary choices and classifications can inform, absolutely (ENTP!), but they should never define. We thrive when we navigate among more extreme behaviors, and adapt to the demands of the situation. And yes, it’s flow .. maybe most of all .. that’s the catalyst, the adaptive energy that all teams can generate and harness .. to make things happen.
