LAC Chargers (1–1) vs. LAR Rams (2–0), LAR-7 48

The Battle of Los Angeles! The Rams host the Chargers in what should be an exciting matchup. After shutting out the Cardinals 34–0 last week, the Rams are firing on both sides of the football. They’ve posted six shutout quarters and look poised as seven point favorites at home.

Pass Defense

While I did mention that the Rams’ defense has been stellar through two weeks, the Charger’ passing offense is leaps and bounds better than the Cardinals.

Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers is off to a hot start, ranking third in the league in touchdowns (six), fourth in passing yards (680) and completion percentage (73.1%). I’m really looking forward to see the Rams secondary matchup against the Chargers’ receivers in Keenan Allen, Tyrell Williams, and Mike Williams.

Melvin Gordon

While the Rams have arguably the best running back in the league with Todd Gurley, the Chargers aren’t too far off the mark with their own work horse. Running back Melvin Gordon is a stud both as a runner and receiver, just check out this beautiful wheel route in the red zone.

I have no doubt the Chargers will attempt to find ways to get Gordon in space, especially against the Rams’ linebackers.

#FightForLA

Once upon a time, the St. Louis Rams and San Diego Chargers took their respective franchises and moved them to Los Angeles at the same exact time, last offseason. While its true the Rams were originally from Los Angeles, it’s going to be interesting to see both fan bases show up for the game.

Overall Thoughts

I’m expecting both teams to take it upon themselves to show out in what should be the #BattleforLA. The Rams are the more complete team especially when you consider the Chargers are still without their team’s best defensive player, Joey Bosa. Having said that, I think this game is going to be a lot closer than you might expect given whats at stake — local bragging rights.

Prediction: Chargers 24 Rams 28
