It was bound to happen. I knew it, felt it, and could almost predict when it would hit. But I forgot to ask the question.

What is the current 2024 COVID-19 protocol for the school district?

And no one else, including the doctors, school liaisons, nurses, or counselors, bought it up.

It is a big problem now.

My grandson suffers from end-stage renal disease and is a kidney dialysis patient. That is until an approved cross-matched transplant donor is found.

While this sounds pretty horrific, in the world of kidney disease, he’s got the best pediatric nephrology care in the world. He and I are committed to working together to overcome his challenges.

After all, what are Grandads for?

My daughter is a teacher and has multiple other kids. I help with her son’s condition by providing transportation, staying with him when he’s hospitalized, taking him for blood tests and doctor appointments, and managing his medications and education.

Fortunately, my writing job allows me to work from anywhere as long as there is an internet connection.
