I Struggle with My Pants and am Considering a Pair of Suspenders

It is an overdue solution that requires a little thought

Due to my age, I have many habits that I don’t want to change. One that stands out is how I deal with comfortable clothing.

Over the years, my belly and I have developed an exciting relationship. We are so entwined that I’ve named it Bob. That stands for Belly of the Beast. I never wanted Bob to take up residency in my abdomen; it just happened.

I remember the day that Bob started moving in.

I was thirty-six years old. I was physically fit with a well-tuned metabolism and reasonable diet control. I was slim and trim, active and energetic.

One day, I noticed I had peaked in my weight management. I had gained a few pounds, and the weight wasn’t going away. I was devastated.

Looking to solve this minor problem, I increased my cardio efforts and had a good conversation with my gym’s lead trainer. I was told my metabolism was shifting, which could cause incremental weight gain, and it was an age thing.

Over time, I noticed I bought clothes a little larger than usual. I also felt uncomfortable with clingy or tight clothes. My clothing standard became a relaxed and casual fit, one size larger than…
