We can’t bring Jimmy back, but we can keep his legacy alive.

The original Parrot Head is gone. He died on September 1, 2023.

His death caught many of us by surprise. However, there were minor signs that he was sick. Things like canceled concerts, lengthy disappearances from public life, and little press mentions occurred. But that is a common practice for many performers. It’s their way of taking a private vacation, or they may have health issues.

In Jimmy Buffett's case, his disappearance was due to a medical problem that was winning its battle over his life. And he had chosen to keep that information buried deep within himself and his family.

For the previous four years, Buffett had been battling a rare form of skin cancer, Merkel Cell Carcinoma. For the first three years, he could keep his energy level high, his music and performance top-notch, and live without worrying his fans.

In January 2023, things took a turn for the worse, and he began pulling out of concerts. The Buffett media team communicated little until he died on Labor Day 2023.
