The “New” Xbox Game Pass — Now with Same Day Microsoft Studios New Releases including Sea of Thieves on March 20th

If you checked out Xbox Game Pass in the past but didn’t subscribe, Microsoft is giving you a new reason to get on the subscription console gaming wagon. Starting with Sea of Thieves, Xbox Game Pass will receive first-party Microsoft Studios new releases on the same day they are available digitally and in stores.

In 2018, that means you’ll get first day release access to Sea of Thieves (March 20th), State of Decay 2 (May 22), and Crackdown 3 (probably Q3 but no specific date and most likely of these ones to slip).

At $11.99 CAD per month in Canada or $9.99 US per month in the US after a 14-day free trial, that’s beginning to look like quite the bargain as you’ll also, of course, get access to the 100+ games already in the Xbox Game Pass library.

In March, in addition to the upcoming Sea of Thieves, they’ve added:

  • Euro Fishing
  • Oxenfree
  • Resident Evil Revelations 2
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Sonic CD
  • Super Lucky’s Tale
  • The Final Station

The full list is sortable at https://www.xbox.com/game-pass and comes to 168 games in the Canadian library as of this posting.

This also seems to me like the perfect sort of subscription for the cottage or for an office where a lot of potential players might pass by for some quick gaming without the commitment of finishing a 20-hour game. Maybe even the office of a startup focused on subscriptions where they could do some…. extra research?
