Kim Potter Only Sentenced to Two Years in Prison, The Internet is Angry

But Wasn’t Super Bowl Sunday the Greatest Halftime Show Ever?

Black people, we’ve done it again. We’ve been fooled, bamboozled, and hoodwinked by song and dance once again. Yes, while we were buying hot wings, crip walking with Snoop, and recovering from a hangover on Monday, White Conservatives and Liberals were mailing freshly stamped letters about Kim Potter’s character to Hennepin County Judge Regina Chu. And it worked! The letter campaign worked.

The entire world consumes Black American culture but because they don't know Black American history they think it’s okay to disrespect Black Americans. And we let them. Time and time again we fall prey to the same tricks and distractions: advertisement campaigns, symbolic songs and dances, and hollow empty rhetoric.

Will Black Americans ever be emotionally intelligent enough to stand behind our principles without anger?

We aren’t on code. We ain’t never on code until someone dies. Where is our communal sense of self-protection? No wonder naked white ladies interrupt our protests and politicians don’t respect us. We don’t respect ourselves. We don't respect ourselves or protect ourselves and then we get upset and protest if we don’t get justice. Are we addicted to being outraged?

Allow me to refresh your memory. In 2016, former quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a knee during the national anthem at the start of NFL games in protest of police brutality and racial inequality in the United States. We endured years of White Liberals gaslighting us with stories of how their grandparents served the military (as if our Black ancestors did not also serve and die in the military) and how it was an insult to disrespect the American flag. Businessman Sean “Jay-Z” Carter, a prided anti-corporate rapper, called for a boycott which we did and then Kaepernick was blackballed from the NFL. Then that same businessman [a notorious womanizer and cheat] signed a multi-year partnership with the NFL, the likes of which had never been seen before. Roc Nation’s partnership with the NFL included entertainment consultation and curating the Super Bowl halftime show and we went back to business as usual. When asked about the boycott and Colin Kaepernick Jay-Z looked right into the news camera and said “I think we’ve moved past kneeling.”

Jay-Z said, “I think we’ve moved past kneeling and I think it’s time to go into actionable items.” Kneeling is a form of protest. He added, “We all know the issues, but now that we all know what’s going on, what are we going to do? How are we going to stop it? Because the kneeling was not about a job, it was about injustice.” Several years after the announcement and nothing tangible has come Roc Nation’s partnership with the NFL except performances.

Biden administration NOTIFIED Congress it planned to send $10 million to help Palestinian and Israeli groups reconcile. They didn’t beg or plea with Congress, they notified.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and Jay-Z were honest with us from the start. They promised Black Americans programs with a variety of avenues. Inspirational songs and featured perspectives of NFL players in a segment called “Beyond the Field.” But for nearly three years now, we’ve watched Roc Nation create star-studded Super Bowl events while Black Americans remain under attack from police brutality, people are losing their right to vote, and books from Black authors are banned from the classrooms and burned in the streets.

Who Do We Love

Fast forward to today and Black Americans are outraged again. The victim this time, 20-year-old Daunte Wright. Former Brooklyn Center Police Officer Kim Potter mistakenly drew a gun instead of a Taser and fatally shot Daunte Wright, during a routine traffic stop. Prosecutors requested seven years and two months for Potter but Hennepin County Judge Regina Chu stunned the courtroom with the stunning revelation that Potter was a “cop who made a tragic mistake.” Judge Chu continued saying Potter drew her firearm thinking it was a Taser and accidentally killed the young man. Chu called the sentencing an extremely difficult decision and now the Black community is upset once again.

If you ever wondered just how powerful the NFL is, look no further than their annual Super Bowl Halftime Show. Daily Snark by Collective Media, Inc.

All part of America’s propaganda playbook, Blacks in America started the week on a confusing high note after watching our great Hip Hop legends and R&B royalty sing and dance for the NFL for free. Scratch that, watching our musical legends PAY millions of dollars of their own cash to sing and dance for millions of viewers during the Super Bowl LVI performance. The Daily Mail reported 56-year-old rap icon Dr. Dre fronted most of the money needed to pull off the iconic all hip-hop halftime show. Insiders reported the N.W.A rapper once known for rap lyrics Fuck Tha Police paid $7m of the $13m budget for Sunday’s NFL and Roc Nation’s Half time Show.

Conclusion

It’s Saturday morning and social media is all the buzz with rage over Chu’s decision. We started the week on a high then ended the week on a different kind of high, the high we get from fighting oppression. Will Black Americans ever be emotionally intelligent enough to stand behind our principles and values without anger?

When I think about a collective moving as a culture I think about the Jews. Not all Jews practice their religion in the same way, not all Jews are observant but even today’s most modern Jew still observes and is “on code” with the Orthodox and Conservative practices of Judaism. Why is this important? Because on May 14, 2021, the Biden administration notified [not asked, not pleaded, or bargained] Congress it planned to send $10 million of our tax dollars to support reconciliation between the Palestinians and Israelis in Gaza.

“We’ve learned again that democracy is precious. Democracy is fragile. At this hour, my friends, democracy has prevailed,” said Biden during his inauguration speech in January of 2021. Biden’s first order of business, the Secretary of the State Department Antony Blinken allocated $235m of Black American tax dollars to the Palestinians, the budget approved $156 million in grants and payments to the Asian Pacific Islander Equity and $1.2 trillion to Tribal Nations.

Yes, that’s right my beautiful black brothers and sisters of The Divine Nine, your soror took your money, gave it to everyone except you, AND now you can’t even vote. While you and I struggled to survive 2021’s lingering pandemic, extreme poverty, and potential homelessness, the legacy we’ll leave behind is watching Alpha Kappa Alpha Black Greek sorority bankrupt the United States and blame Black Americans for it all the while.
