A Poem

To whom it may concern, and by this I mean
Everyone

This job is not okay
This job is one big and targeted attack on mental health

This job hurts mind body soul and spirit
On the daily

This job is sad
This job made me sad

One person cannot do half of the things
Teachers are expected to do

And the things I am good at
Are not the things this job wants from me

The hugs, the poetry
The love for kids, the love for books

The attempts the attempts the attempts
This job is an attempt on my soul

It has tried to take me out
It has tried to disappear me

It has tried and now it cannot try anymore
I will be free, I will run wild -

I will tell them it was
A matter of life and death

I will tell them
The word resign
