I think its important to state that there is no commonly accepted definition for UX. Just because it has so many dimensions, and includes a bunch of different disciplines and methods.

According to a study made by Oxford Journal Interacting with Computers, the goal of UX design in business is to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty through the utility, ease of use, and pleasure provided in the interaction with a product.

How can we apply that into our everyday life:

UX design is the art and science of generating positive emotions through product interactions —Tomer Sharon — Senior UX Researcher at Google

Usually many job seekers don’t know how to behave in interviews, then they don’t know how to write resumes. While there are many reasons the job search should scare you, there are plenty more reasons why you can overcome those fears and get ahead of the curve.

Let’s look at this for a different angle, the UX process method

1. The research

Literally do your research, who is the what is commonly called “target audience” which in this case is the recruiter who will hire you. Research their personality, what they do on the everyday life, how do they behave, I would even look after what they like, what do they apprecieate etc… you get my point.

2. Design the experience

I must be crazy right? Well, think about this…what is the first thing that the recruiter will look at you. It’s the quality of the work, and your personal qualities right? Make them visible, just like we do certain patterns in order to reduce bounce rates on websites, and increases sales, we need to apply that directly on our interview or introduction email. Don’t make it harder for the recruiter to find your work, instead that would be the first thing that he/she should see. They have no time to look for the link on your attached PDF resume. The technology has evolved, it is a good idea to have an online resume that would interact with the recruiter and therefore build some kind of emotion with them.

3. Test it

Literally prepare yourself, find your mistakes and improve. That’s what testing is in UX, but that should be applied onto your application too. You can try that with your friends, family basically anyone who is good at role playing the recruiter and telling you the honest

4. The launch

That means that its the time for the interview, if its successful you have done a great job, that means the methods you applied worked. If not, repeat the process and find the mistakes and improve for the next one.

Final words

As a UX Designer, you have a wide range of methods and techniques you can use. Don’t get stuck on the same methods over and over again, otherwise you will get the same results over and over again. And remember you control the experience…

Would love to hear a similar experience from you in the comments below.

Next week publication will be called: “UX on everyday life: Entrepreneurs”.

  1. who is your user(the recruiter), and what is he looking for on you.
2.How do they interact with you: Basically
