Types of drivers

Irrespective of the type or brand of the car you drive, there are variations in driving styles on our roads. Most motorists fall into these 5 distinct characteristics depending on how they approach the task of driving. As you read further with this list, you are likely to recognize yourself or someone you drive with.

1. DISTRACTED

Distracted Driving

WHO WE ARE?

We fidget with the stuff in our car because its extremely unorganized. We’re more keen on programming our GPS device, texting, making a call, eating, browsing through the playlist trying to play our favorite song while we also stretch and dig into the dashboard compartment to find our AUX cable/CD/USBs at times. And we love doing it while we drive.

THIS IS HOW WE ROLL

We drift into other lanes and miss the stop signs at times. There are high chances that we bump into your car in traffic more often. We don’t mind if you’re honking at us as it is understood that you are just trying to remind us that we better keep moving. Even if some of us have the best of driving skills, our distraction makes us very vulnerable to be around.

2. FAST AND THE FURIOUS

Fast driver

WHO WE ARE

We have exaggerated confidence about our driving skills. Its just the road and us. We absolutely do not care who is driving around us. We honk a lot and are always in a hurry for reasons unknown. If it wouldn’t have been for our corporate jobs, we’d surely smoke ’em F1 Racers.

THIS IS HOW WE ROLL

We manage to catch few red lights because we accelerate through the yellows while knowingly drifting into your lane and tailgating dangerously. We are sure we wouldn’t bump into you unless you step on the breaks urgently. Close calls are routine for us.

3. THE ROAD RAGER

Road Rage

WHO WE ARE

What makes us different is our aggression. We are frustrated with most of the things in life and we believe venting it out on the streets is the best solution. We speak this language called FOWL. It has many dialects namely ABUSIVE, DISRESPECTFUL, ANNOYING, BAD, INSENSITIVE etc. Surprisingly, these languages have never been in the curriculum but are known to every human alive.

THIS IS HOW WE ROLL

Identifying us isn’t a task. We always look at you with a frown that is accompanied with grinding teeth and a display unwelcoming hand gestures. Next time somebody does that to you, be sure it is us. We have a strong belief in Vengeance so think twice before you even try to mess with us.

4. LEARNING

Learner

WHO WE ARE

We hit the street with a warning by the ‘L’ sticker we have on our cars. Considering that we have openly alarmed the people around us, we are the most honest of the lot. The feeling of, ‘We know we are learning, you know we are learning’ mutually brings peace on the road despite of the potential threat we pose on the street.

THIS IS HOW WE ROLL

We are pretty slow and very rigid on the wheel. We are the only ones who wouldn’t mind being honked at. We mostly drift into other lanes every time we try to shift gears. We use urgent breaks very often so we aren’t that good at stopping either. You should choose to keep away from us on an upward sloping road; we are really bad at it. Our engines go off very frequently on pick up and we thus request you to please cooperate.

5. POLITE

Polite driver

WHO WE ARE

We have a realization that despite of speeding, tailgating and jumping lanes outrageously, we will make it just 15 minutes earlier at our desired destination. We would rather choose to leave 15 minutes earlier. The composure is effectively maintained and we make sure to not retaliate on the road. Our driving is extremely defensive as we mostly try to avoid any unpleasant situation and evade.

THIS IS HOW WE ROLL

‘Letting go’ is our motto and it is quite in a literal sense. We efficiently maneuver the cars to get away from your aggressive driving conduct and give way. Often we try to help other drivers who struggle with inadequate space to maneuver their vehicles by giving them a chance to pass. We maintain our calm and we JUSTRIDE.
