To the untrained eye, Mumbai is a cacophony of people, working their heart out, lured by the promise of a better life. My first tryst with the city was when I landed here a decade back, oblivious to the spirit of Mumbai. The heavy traffic and sultry weather soon knocked the wind out of my sails. However, to my astonishment, within a matter of months I had been won over by the charm, history and grit of Mumbai. The culture of Mumbai is bequeathed by a blend of traditional festivals, a colourful pallet of cuisines, art, music and of course Bollywood. The birth place of Indian cinema has come a long way from the days of Dadasaheb Phalke.

Urban Resurrection

Built on what had once been an archipelago of seven islands inhabited by the Aagri and Koli tribes, the city today is the financial, commercial and entertainment capital of India. In recent years, the city has given itself a beautiful face-lift. The ravenous rate at which the city and its infrastructure have expanded since the days of the British Raj is unparalleled.

In the recent years, authorities have spent big to resurrect the city’s transportation system. The sprawling network of Link Roads, Freeways and Expressways along with the development of modern public transportation systems like the Metro and Monorail have brought significant respite to the overburdened Local Trains and the iconic BEST busses. However, the burgeoning rate of vehicle ownership continues to have severe ramifications on traffic congestions and the environmental health of the city.

Car Rentals To The Rescue?

At JustRide, we have made it our mission to be a part of the city’s resurrection story. Leaving aside the issue of heavy traffic, let’s have a look at Mumbai’s parking woes. Public parking system in the city has not been able to keep pace with the sharp rise in the number of cars out on the streets. In parts of South Mumbai, one of the most congested areas of the city, the situation is so dire that residents have ceased to care about the frequent parking tickets handed out by the cops.

Consider for a moment, what if you could avoid expensive down payments and monthly instalments for your car? Wouldn’t it be great to drive around the city without fretting over the issue of parking your vehicle?

Urban commute is at the threshold of a new era with car rentals witnessing a growth, never seen before. The concept of rent-a-car is not new to us. However, coupled with increasing costs of maintenance and changing lifestyle, owning a car has lost much of the sheen it once held. Besides when you’re hopping cities and switching jobs every year, owning a car proves to be a liability.

Those of us who own a car are well aware that their vehicles spend a whopping 90% of their lifetime parked in a garage. Moreover with every passing year, the cost of maintaining the vehicle keeping shooting up, while its value plummets. Why then invest so heavily in an asset which is used only for a fraction of its life cycle?

The Solution

Let’s admit it. Renting a car in India has never been fun. The last thing one looks forward to is to hire a cab to pick a vehicle from the rent-a-car office. The entire exercise seems futile if a person were to commute every day. This is exactly where we come in.

At JustRide we’re working on what we love to call Smart Vehicle Technology. By tapping into a vehicle’s electronic system and hooking it up to the internet, we’ve built a system where you can have the car of your choice delivered right at your doorstep. Renting a car has never been easier. We are a simple, elegant and reliable cure for your transportation woes. So come aboard and see what the fuss is all about.
