If you either spend more money to reach the airport than on the flight ticket, or get the sarcasm, you are in the right place!

Year on year the city of Bengaluru witnesses hundreds of investors, venture capitalists & entrepreneurs eying a million dollar deal by attempting to solve urban issues. But all of them face a common barricade, “The Commute”. The average commute time on Bengaluru roads increased by 6% in the first quarter of 2018 compared to the same time last year. These sort of issues are often overlooked but are substantial nonetheless.

Well, how big is the issue & why should we care? Not paying enough attention to commute issues have numerous potential negative impacts that, at a large corporation, their related costs could be in tens of millions of dollars each year. New studies from firms like Xerox, KeyBank, Evolv etc have shown that commute issues can have a major impact on hiring & retention. Other impacts include (but are not limited to), increased absenteeism, frequent tardiness, higher turnover rates, reduced employee engagement, increased error rates, reduced performance & less productivity. Perhaps, this is one of the reasons why we haven’t been able to focus better on solving one of the most prevalent issues in the city of Bengaluru — the Airport Commute.

Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) is the third busiest airport in the country (after Delhi & Mumbai respectively) & has been identified as one of the fastest growing airports in the world in terms of actual growth in passengers. As per the reports from the Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) last year, the airport witnessed around 27 million passengers. Every day, KIA handles an average of 85,000 passengers. There has been such an immense increase in the number of passengers. Yet, we are still paying 1600–2000 INR for taking a cab/taxi to & from the airport. What’s the point, you ask? Well…

The economic growth of a country depends on the productivity of its economy. Efficient & rational utilisation of resources & investments determine productivity. In other words, where we deploy investments like roads, hospitals, trains, buses etc. direct the outcomes they deliver. Why even waste a penny if it all counts in the bigger picture? The key to any sustainable ecosystem is increasing aggregate efficiency & decreasing marginal costs — not the other way around! But that’s for another blog. Now that we have identified the issue of airport commute, what sort of solution might we be pursuing?

*Market gap identified*

Imagine, if we had an entity which offered exclusive cars for airport commute? Where customers didn’t have to worry about accessibility concerns as it would provide home delivery of vehicles & pick up as well. Sounds like a dream, right?

Well this imagination hit us too, we can tell you that. So we strived to make the aforementioned dream a reality— with our ONE-WAY Airport Rentals. It allows us to rent one way vehicles for travel to Bengaluru airport from the comfort of our homes and vice-versa. No need to visit the venue at any time, no need to worry about the drop off. But most importantly, no need to pay through the nose when paying less will do. As always, we’re keeping it simple with the following two packages — starting at 449 INR*.

2 hrs | 40 kms | free fuel
3 hrs | 50 kms | free fuel

But, what good is a product that doesn’t deliver? Our airport rentals have seen exponential growth within a short span of 90 days & now the sky’s the limit (literally!).

So, if you’re one of those who have used our Airport Rentals, drop a line if you’d like to have such a service in your city or share your experience of using the service here in Bengaluru & tell us more about how we can make your commute, from roadways to runways, less tedious & more HAWA HAWAAI…
