Indulgent confections with
dwindling miserliness —

cloying, drip-fed sweetness,
tongued like pop singers
and poppy-fed songs.

Round the teeth
and through the gums,
look out tummy, here it comes.

Thanks, sugar…
You were so sweet,
that was quite a treat.

Splayed, sans wrapper,
a lesser idol, no diva,
just a girl in confusion,

and the wait
for the bitter to set in.
