A free video tech package & event by engineers for engineers.

After months of revamping our offering, today we’re thrilled to be able to share with everyone a new and improved developer package that is available free of charge.

The developer edition of JW Player will have full functionality for six months with a host of JW Player features for the community to experiment with including:

  • HTML5 Video Player: Providing complete control of the video playback experience on your applications and websites using an event-based JavaScript API.
  • Video Platform: Integrating directly into your workflow to upload, update, and serve all video assets with RESTful APIs.
  • Android & iOS SDKs: Providing the ability to create a custom video experience with native methods and classes for Android and iOS developers.

The developer edition of JW Player will include full functionality for six months, with features such as media workflow APIs for hosting and streaming, native video player SDKs, html5 video player, real-time analytics, advertising integrations, and video recommendation capabilities.

You can get started for free today by signing up right on our developer site.

When Jeroen first dropped jwplayer code onto his personal blog (jeroenwijering.com) he thought of the project as one that would help the internet deliver video in a faster and more efficient way. The community that made the original project such a success and JW Player what it is today is the reason we are launching this package of functionality today.

This edition returns our company to its roots and will look to democratize access to the company’s video technology, ensuring that those interested in video software are able to use best-in-class features without the barrier of an upfront cost.

We will also be hosting an inaugural video developers conference re[FRAME] this March in New York — more details to come.

As always — if you have ideas, questions or just want to get in touch you can reach us on Twitter @JWDevelopers or by signing up for JW Developer edition.
