What is K-Minds?
Imagine a data science learning program where even the boring parts become engaging and fun, allowing you to focus on the exciting problem-solving aspect of data!
Here are the four key features we offer:
- Learning Sessions: Boring theoretical learning is avoided. Best practices in data science are guided through interactive sessions, group discussions, competitions, and sometimes gifts for winners.
Learning with joy is the goal! - Hands-On Projects: Clean, clear test data is replaced with messy, complex data from a data partner. The right outcome of the analysis is not provided, giving a chance to feel responsible for data processing and insights. This is done in a safe environment, ensuring support is always available.
- Quality Assurance: Courses where feedback is not heard are a thing of the past. Feedback is listened to and used to improve the process after each interaction. This is a place to talk and share concerns about the course, aiming to rise together.
- Mentorship: Sample resumes are avoided. Mentorship and resume-building sessions help create an outstanding resume that stands out among data scientists. Step-by-step guidance is provided, with support continuing after the program ends, fostering a sense of community.

Who stands behind the idea?
We are DataPoint Armenia — a non profit organization connecting Armenian data science communities globally to share knowledge and experiences. By working with professionals and organizations in the field of data science worldwide, we’ve created webinars, workshops and other resources to promote interest in data science. Right now, our main focus is on developing the next generation of Armenian data scientists through our career development program, K-Minds!
Why join us?
Aspiring data scientists in Armenia and from around the world are brought together to collaborate with top professionals, forming a strong network. This initiative allows participants to gain new skills and knowledge. Contributions are encouraged, whether by becoming a data partner, learning instructor, mentor, or simply joining the community. Together, we aim to elevate the data science environment in Armenia.

What’s happening right now?
- Over the last few months, we have updated the learning session schedule to stay up to date with modern technologies, improved processes, and added new learning materials.
- We also partnered with a company to provide real corporate data for our apprenticeship like program, ensuring our participants, the K-minders, are industry-ready.
- The selection process was challenging as we had to choose a limited number of participants from many great candidates. This period was filled with inspiring conversations and valuable insights on improving the program. While it was tough to reject some applicants, we remain a welcoming community and encourage everyone to join us, share our plans, and help us grow.
- Now, after all this hard work, we have launched K-minds 2024 and are excited to share the details in these blog series. To learn more about K-minds 2022 read our previous article and coming ones for K-minds 2024.

As mentioned, we aim to grow our community through knowledge sharing. This approach will encourage you to follow our blog posts, learn with us, and collaborate.
Our blog’s main goal is to:
- Share insights on new technologies and tools in data science,
- Provide tips on resumes, portfolios, and career building from industry experts,
- Offer updates on our K-minds program and important events.
We also invite community members and data science enthusiasts to join our writing challenges and help develop data science writing in Armenian.
