My professional North Star has centered around leveraging the scalable platform of venture capital to back brilliant, visionary minds with the resources they need to positively influence the world. My experience across founding, operating, and investing has provided me a unique perspective of start-up success and failure and highlighted the value of empathy and human capital within venture.

It is my belief that venture capital is the catalyst to the innovation needed for society’s most pressing problems. There is a new generation of mission-driven founders committed to building category-defining businesses that improve the lives of consumers and workers around the world. Unfortunately, many of these founders have difficulty accessing funding despite addressing massive opportunities.

When I met Ryan Bloomer, he was preparing to launch K50 Ventures to confront this exact inconsistency. We shared the same goal: to write the first check for world-class founders on a mission to make life better for the 99%. As we spent more time discussing why venture is broken, how to improve the lives of disenfranchised people globally, and how we wanted to approach solving these fundamental issues, we developed a strategy to execute this common vision.

My next steps with K50 Ventures

I am thrilled to announce that I have joined K50 Ventures as a founding Partner. Ryan and I will be writing K50 Ventures’ next chapter through investing in mission-driven founders at the beginning of their journeys. While we could not have predicted we would be announcing the fund in the middle of a global pandemic, international political unrest, and worldwide anti-racism protests, we believe this underscores the urgency of our mission.

Join me in addressing fundamental needs around the world

I am delighted to be leading an investment team focusing on some of society’s greatest challenges within the essential categories of finance, education, housing, health, and work. We continue our search for pre-seed and seed companies to join our portfolio and community of over 130 purpose-led founders. Whether it’s the first-time visionaries, operators who have built unicorns, or seasoned, repeat founders, we believe the time is now to back this new generation of mission-driven entrepreneurs. If you are focused on solving some of society’s most pressing challenges such as the racial gap in homeownership, enabling the Creator Economy, addressing the broken education system, or improving access to healthy affordable food, we would love to back you.

I joined K50 Ventures to build a new standard in venture capital: defined by diversity, honesty, authenticity, and honor towards both founders and LPs. If you share our values, are building a company in any of the above categories, or would simply like to connect please reach me at adriel@k50ventures.com and @AdrielBercow on Twitter.
